Isaiah 43:11 (NIV)
“I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me, there is no savior.”
Titus 3:4-6 (NIV)
“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior.”
A saviour is a person who rescues, liberates, delivers, and redeems another from danger or difficulty. When we study God’s Word, His ultimate redemptive plan unfolds through the person of Jesus, our awesome Saviour. While there are many aspects of our lives that we need to be saved from (sickness, addictions, bondages, demonic attacks, consequences of our bad choices etc), there is one dire need that unites us all. Everybody needs salvation from sin, and nobody can save us apart from our Awesome God.
Romans 6:23 reminds us that the wages of sin is death but God offers us the free gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord and Saviour!
Our internal struggles with guilt, shame, and the weight of our sins can be overwhelming. Yet, in tough times, our Awesome God steps in as our mighty Saviour. He does not just rescue us from outside threats but liberates us from the chains within — breaking the bonds of guilt, demolishing the strongholds of shame, and redeeming us from the consequences of our sins.
